On 10 November 2017, a delegation of 22 Chinese presidents and directors of higher education institutions, along with representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Higher Education and of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), was welcomed by the president of Université Paris-Sud (UPSud), Sylvie Retailleau, along with 3 vice-presidents, International (Sandrine Lacombe), Research (Etienne Augé), and Education and Student life (Anne Mantel), with the participation of researchers and a representative of Université Paris-Saclay (Martine Husson, deputy director of International relations).
Internationalisation and quality assurance at Université Paris-Saclay
Within the framework of a tour of French higher education institutions, the visit was piloted by Prof. Liu Zenglu, vice-dean of the SJTU-ParisTech Elite Institute of Technology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Mrs. He Pei, deputy director of Cross-Border Education Quality Assurance (CEAIE). In accordance with the interest expressed by the representatives, talks focused on the internationalisation strategy of UPSud relating to the education programmes it provides, within the framework of Université Paris-Saclay, the establishment of Master’s or doctoral double-degrees, but also on the implementation of quality assurance procedures. As regards the evaluation of procedures and actions carried out in this area, the president of UPSud detailed the evaluation procedures piloted in France in an independent manner by the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (Hcéres).
A positive experience at Université Paris-Sud
Following the discussions, a former doctoral student of UPSud, Xu Qiu, from the Fudan University, financed by a CSC scholarship (China Scholarship Council), shared her productive experience at the university, after which both parties were able to conclude to their mutual interest in facilitating and multiplying student exchanges and PhD co-supervision opportunities and share the common will to reinforce cooperation in the areas of education and research.
