Following up on existing collaborations with several member institutions of Université Paris-Saclay (UPSaclay), the National Taiwan University (NTU) and the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) sign a tripartite Master’s / Engineering double degree agreement between NTU / Université Paris-Sud and Université Paris-Saclay, and a NCTU / UPSaclay joint PhD agreement.
There is significant student mobility between Taiwan and France: in 2016-2017, France is the second destination of Taiwanese students in Europe and the first European country in terms of incoming students to Taiwan. Within the scope of Université Paris-Saclay, several partnership agreements on student and doctoral student mobility have been signed, among others, at Paris-Sud University, ENS Paris-Saclay, CentraleSupélec, TelecomParisTech, TelecomSudParis, AgroParisTech, CNRS, and Inserm.
On the occasion of the international APAIE conference, which took place this year in the South of Taiwan (Kaohsiung), a delegation from Université Paris-Saclay came to present the training and research offering of the entity:
- On 23rd March, the delegation signed a Joint PhD Implementation Agreement with the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) which covers all of Université Paris-Saclay research themes and opens henceforth collaborations with all its member institutions. Further to the visit at Université Paris-Saclay last October of NCTU representatives, this agreement formalizes the interest expressed more specifically by the Director of the Institute for Environmental Engineering, Hsunling BAI, for “low carbon green energy and environmental sustainability”. The reinforcement of relationships with researchers in particular from Paris-Sud University will receive support from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan to finance the next students enrolled in a Joint PhD in the field of sustainability.
- On 24th March, the delegation went to the National Taiwan University for the upcoming signature of an Agreement on a double degree program between Paris-Sud University, Université Paris-Saclay, and the National Taiwan University. This agreement is based on an existing partnership with Paris-Sud University, revealing the common goal to offer two paths in “material sciences” and “electrical engineering”, leading to double Master’s/Engineering degrees. Depending on the course they chose, students will be able to receive either, a Master’s degree from NTU and a Master’s degree from Université Paris-Saclay, or an NTU Master’s degree and a Polytech/Paris-Sud University Engineering degree.
