Dean of the Doctoral School n°127 AAIF | Astronomy and Astrophysics - Ile-de-France
Born in 1959, Jacques Le Bourlot received his PhD in 1986 at the University Paris-Diderot Paris 7. He gets a Lecturer position in 1988 and a professorship in 1998 in the same University. He was a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France from 1998 to 2003.
From 2004 to 2013, he was responsible for Paris-Diderot Master of Astrophysics of the Paris region (Universities P6, P7, P11 and Observatoire de Paris) and Director of the Doctoral School "Astronomy and Astrophysics of Ile-de -France "since 2014.
He specializes in the physics of neutral interstellar medium, especially the modeling of photodissociation regions. These models use many micro-physical phenomena (chemistry, atomic and molecular physics, radiation transfer, gas-dust interactions) as well as hydrodynamic processes (shocks and turbulence) to offer physical diagnostics from observations spectroscopic gas interacting with the radiation of young stars. Currently, it focuses on the inclusion of irreducible stochastic effects to mean field effects.
