Dean of the doctoral School n°575 EOBE | Electrical, optical, bio-physics and engineering
Born in 1972, Eric Cassan is a former student of ENS Cachan (1992-1996) and agrégé of Applied Physics in 1995. After a DEA-degree and a PhD thesis defense in Paris-Sud University, he was recruited in 2000 on a research profile maître-de-conférences position (BQR in optoelectronics) within the Faculty of Sciences of Paris-Sud. In 2009, he joined the IUT Orsay, part of Paris-Sud, in the Mesures-Physiques Department, as a university professor.
From 2002 to 2011, he is responsible for a research group within the IEF laboratory (UMR 8622, Orsay), is responsible for two L3 cycles from 2006 to 2014, and deputy director of the STITS doctoral school (ED 422 , UPSud/Supélec) and UPSud-HDR-adviser (61st and 63rd CNU sections) from 2011 to 2015. Since 2015, he manages the effective direction of the Electrical, Optical, Bio - Physics and Engineering doctoral school (EOBE, ED 575).
Eric Cassan conducts research in the field of silicon nanophotonics. This research deals with photonic and optoelectronic properties of materials and components for the development of co-integrated optoelectronic systems with CMOS electronics.
