M2 Description
Ce parcours est enseigné uniquement en langue anglaise, toutes les informations sont affichées en anglais.
The field of biotherapy is rapidly evolving for years. Advances of the research in vectorology, stem cells, biomaterials, and genomics have transformed the practices of research laboratories in biotherapy and numerous clinical trials have emerged in recent years. Several strategies have proven their efficacy and will undoubtedly be applied soon. The passage of the clinical essays to the actual therapy requires the intervention of the biotechnology industry for the production of large quantities of active substances with stringent quality controls. Laws concerning the application of biotherapies must take into account the specific nature of the biotherapeutical products which is different from the other drugs. The societal and ethical impact of these new features is huge and the field of biotherapy will need experts in all these areas. Our master, although specializing in biotherapy provides training in all these domains and aims to train people to interact with practitioners as well as with scientific researchers and regulatory agencies.

Programme
Location
Most of theoretical talks are done in the medicine faculty of UPEC (Créteil) and in the Evry-Val d'Essonne University. Some of the professional option courses are given in the Paris 13 University (Bobigny).
Professional perspectives
After this Master’s program, successful students may either pursue a PhD Thesis, or follow a professional career in research and development in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Students of the professional option integrates often an ARC (Attaché de Recherche Clinique) formation.
Research
The master BTCG is strongly associated with the three partner universities laboratories. More than half of students performed his internship in a laboratory of the Evry-Genopole Campus or in the Mondor Institute of biomedical research (Hôpital Henry Mondor, Créteil). Genopole, France’s leading biocluster for biotechnologies and research in genomics and genetics, unites innovative high-tech life sciences companies, public and private research and higher education facilities at a single site in Evry/Corbeil-Essonnes, just south of Paris. Today, the Evry-Genopole biocluster includes 80 biotech companies, 19 academic research laboratories, 21 shared-access technology platforms in 97,649 m2 of real estate
Learning objectives
The main objective is to acquire the skills relevant to the field of biologics, including gene therapy (gene transfer, genetic engineering), cellular therapies (manipulation of either stem cells or differentiated cells), immunotherapy, pharmacological therapies innovative use of biomaterials... Their implementation is based on a wide range of basic biology, and the development and transfer of biomedical research to the world of biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.
Each year some foreign students (about 10%) integrates our master. Most of them are Europeans (Grece, UK, Spain, Nederlands, Ukrania...) but some others came from Algeria, Lebanon, Tunisia.. On the other hand some of our student go to other countries to do the internship (mainly in the fourth semester (Canada, UK, Spain, Netherlands Switzerland). We have not agreements with other universities at the level of master but each of three partner universities have their own agreements to exchange students (Erasmus...).
Remarques / Comments : 'Individual interviews with members of the admission committee could be organised to ensure the consistency of the career with the contents of the master. Theoretical courses will be held in November and December to allow medical students to follow the master.
