The M2 HCID - EIT digital is the 2nd year (specialisation) of the M1 HCID -EIT digital.
The specialization of the second year in UPS is Situated Interaction. It focuses on the design, development and evaluation of interactive systems that are adapted to (and adaptable by) users and the context of their use. In particular, it considers interaction beyond the desktop, and the capacity of users to solve complex problems using diverse interactive environments. As a example, the proliferation of touch enabled-mobile devices shows that interactive innovations can lead to using technology in novel ways, under completely new situations, and can give birth to new economic models (e.g., “apps”). Our goal is to acquaint students with interaction methods that are at the cutting edge of today’s research on situated interaction, on virtual and augmented reality, and advanced interface programming.
Students chose 4 electives that cover diverse forms of human-computer interaction: gestural and mobile, mixed reality and tangible, collaborative, intelligent agents/virtual humans, multimodal, internet of things, information visualization. Other electives cover advanced techniques in design and evaluation.
Finally, some electives introduce domains related to human-computer interaction, such as digital fabrication in our fablab, computer graphics, and machine learning.
Classes incorporate both theoretical presentations, and practical work, using the different interactive environments and platforms that are available with the labs associated with our master (LRI, LIMSI, INRIA Saclay, CEA LIST). This specialization year includes a real business case study in innovation and entrepreneurship, linked to the specialization. By placing students in realistic situations, it allows them to reflect and delve into the innovation process, and to acquire the tools to turn research innovations into feasible products.
The second semester of the specialization year includes an internship, conducted preferably with a French IET Digital partner, a company or start-up, or a lab associated with a research organism (CNRS, INRIA, CEA).
Only students who has successfully completed the M1 HCID - EIT digital at a partner university can apply.
If you are interested in Human Computer Interaction ( IHM in french) but you have not done M1 HCID - EIT Digital, you can apply to the M2 HCI.
