M2 Description
This masters, as a reference in the nuclear field, will give, to the future managers, a broad and comprehensive vision of the chemistry and physical chemistry applied in the nuclear field, with a very high theoretical and practical level. Therefore, the specificity of this specialty, is to give all the scientific tools to study the radionuclides behavior in the condensed phase. This master also aims to prepare students to realize a thesis and become researcher and/or teacher. The broad number of associated research laboratories allows to integrate a large number of students.
The Master is integrated into the training program of the European Institute for Innovation and Technology "Innoenergy".
"The EIT Label is a quality seal awarded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to a KIC educational programme that has been assessed positively by the EIT on the implementation of theEIT Quality Assurance and Learning Enhancement (EIT QALE) system and the application of specific quality criteria with focus on the EIT Overarching Learning Outcomes (EIT OLOs), robust entrepreneurship education, highly integrated, innovative ‘learning‐by‐doing’ curricula, international mobility and outreach."

Career opportunities
Students will be trained to become the future managers of international companies including famous French companies such as EDF, AREVA, GDF-SUEZ. They could also be the future engineers of SME in the nuclear field. The training in "research" will lead some of them to governmental research institutes including and universities.
Research
Speciation of radionuclides in the geosphere and biosphere. Investigations of the migration of radionuclides. Behavior of radionuclides in biological media (contamination …). Physical chemistry of fuel (UO2, ThO2). Studies on solid matrices as radionuclides storage (synthesis, characterization, stability, ...). Radiolysis and chemistry under irradiation. Studies on fuel reprocessing (hydrometallurgy, pyrochemistry).
Social and economic partners
Strong partnerships with EDF, AREVA, ANDRA.
Teaching objectives
The fuel cycle specialty aims to give extensive training in the field of nuclear cycle, in order to streamline the various stages of the fuel cycle, from the mine to the storage site.
During this training, the students will learn:
- to use a wide field of sciences (nuclear materials, nuclear physics and chemistry, mathematics and computer science, project management).
- how to design, develop and perform new and existing processes in industrial environments.
- to perform applied research, updates development, analysis, testing and implementation of innovations.
- to manage teams.
- to work in an international context.
