The M1 "Irène Joliot-Curie – X" is a curriculum for excellent students built on the Physics courses given to third year students at Ecole Polytechnique ( https://portail.polytechnique.edu/physique/fr/enseignement/annee-3/pa-de-physique)
It is organized in two tracks :
- Photons and atoms : Lasers, Optics and Plasmas
- From atoms to materials : Condensed matter, soft matter, functional materials
This program allows students to discover the diversity of physical phenomena on the one hand and to deepen their competences in some very up-to-date scientific subjects on the other hand. Courses are given by outstanding professors who deliver lectures on the theoretical foundation of physics and its experimental and pluridisciplinary aspects as well as on modern technological applications.
It opens the way towards a huge range of physics-related positions, from fundamental or applied research to many other professions where a physicist training is a real asset.
During the year, students will have to take one or two courses from other M1 programs in Université Paris-Saclay, such as "Nonlinear optics" or "Coupled and guided waves" (IJC-IOGS) or "Fundamentals in biology" or "Introduction to nanophotonics" (IJC-ENSParis-Saclay) or Atomic and molecular physics" (M1 General Physics). This list is not limitative and study tracks will be organized on a personal basis.
Les modalités d'examen de la candidature sont les suivantes : Examen de dossier à déposer sur le site web de l'UPSaclay
